Morning: Psalm 103:1-22

Mornging Psalm:
[1] Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name.
[2] Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and do not forget all his benefits--
[3] who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
[4] who redeems your life from the Pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
[5] who satisfies you with good as long as you live
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

[6] The LORD works vindication
and justice for all who are oppressed.
[7] He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
[8] The LORD is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
[9] He will not always accuse,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
[10] He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
[11] For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
[12] as far as the east is from the west,
so far he removes our transgressions from us.
[13] As a father has compassion for his children,
so the LORD has compassion for those who fear him.
[14] For he knows how we were made;
he remembers that we are dust.

[15] As for mortals, their days are like grass;
they flourish like a flower of the field;
[16] for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
[17] But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting
on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children's children,
[18] to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.

[19] The LORD has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.
[20] Bless the LORD, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
obedient to his spoken word.
[21] Bless the LORD, all his hosts,
his ministers that do his will.
[22] Bless the LORD, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
Bless the LORD, O my soul.

Joshua 1:1-18

[1] After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD spoke
to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' assistant, saying, [2] "My servant Moses
is dead. Now proceed to cross the Jordan, you and all this people,
into the land that I am giving to them, to the Israelites. [3] Every
place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you,
as I promised to Moses. [4] From the wilderness and the Lebanon as far
as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites,
to the Great Sea in the west shall be your territory. [5] No one shall
be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with
Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. [6]
Be strong and courageous; for you shall put this people in possession
of the land that I swore to their ancestors to give them. [7] Only be
strong and very courageous, being careful to act in accordance with
all the law that my servant Moses commanded you; do not turn from it
to the right hand or to the left, so that you may be successful
wherever you go. [8] This book of the law shall not depart out of your
mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful
to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall
make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful. [9] I hereby
command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed,
for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

[10] Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, [11] "Pass through
the camp, and command the people: 'Prepare your provisions; for in three
days you are to cross over the Jordan, to go in to take possession of the
land that the LORD your God gives you to possess.'"

[12] To the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh
Joshua said, [13] "Remember the word that Moses the servant of the LORD
commanded you, saying, 'The LORD your God is providing you a place of
rest, and will give you this land.' [14] Your wives, your little ones, and
your livestock shall remain in the land that Moses gave you beyond the
Jordan. But all the warriors among you shall cross over armed before your
kindred and shall help them, [15] until the LORD gives rest to your kindred
as well as to you, and they too take possession of the land that the LORD
your God is giving them. Then you shall return to your own land and take
possession of it, the land that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you
beyond the Jordan to the east."

[16] They answered Joshua: "All that you have commanded us we will do,
and wherever you send us we will go. [17] Just as we obeyed Moses in
all things, so we will obey you. Only may the LORD your God be with you,
as he was with Moses! [18] Whoever rebels against your orders and
disobeys your words, whatever you command, shall be put to death. Only
be strong and courageous."

Acts 21:3-15

[3] We came in sight of Cyprus; and leaving it on our left, we sailed
to Syria and landed at Tyre, because the ship was to unload its cargo
there. [4] We looked up the disciples and stayed there for seven days.
Through the Spirit they told Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. [5] When
our days there were ended, we left and proceeded on our journey; and
all of them, with wives and children, escorted us outside the city. There
we knelt down on the beach and prayed [6] and said farewell to one
another. Then we went on board the ship, and they returned home.

[7] When we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais;
and we greeted the believers and stayed with them for one day. [8] The
next day we left and came to Caesarea; and we went into the house of
Philip the evangelist, one of the seven, and stayed with him. [9] He
had four unmarried daughters who had the gift of prophecy. [10] While
we were staying there for several days, a prophet named Agabus came
down from Judea. [11] He came to us and took Paul’s belt, bound his own
feet and hands with it, and said, "Thus says the Holy Spirit, 'This is
the way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and
will hand him over to the Gentiles.'" [12] When we heard this, we and
the people there urged him not to go up to Jerusalem. [13] Then Paul
answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am
ready not only to be bound but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of
the Lord Jesus." [14] Since he would not be persuaded, we remained
silent except to say, "The Lord’s will be done."

[15] After these days we got ready and started to go up to Jerusalem.

Mark 1:21-27

[21] They went to Capernaum; and when the sabbath came, he entered the
synagogue and taught. [22] They were astounded at his teaching, for he
taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. [23] Just
then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, [24]
and he cried out, "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have
you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God." [25]
But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him!" [26] And
the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came
out of him. [27] They were all amazed, and they kept on asking one
another, "What is this? A new teaching--with authority! He commands even
the unclean spirits, and they obey him."

2 Samuel 6:1-5, 12b-19

[1] David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
[2] David and all the people with him set out and went from
Baale-judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called
by the name of the LORD of hosts who is enthroned on the cherubim.
[3] They carried the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the
house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of
Abinadab, were driving the new cart [4] with the ark of God; and Ahio went
in front of the ark. [5] David and all the house of Israel were dancing
before the LORD with all their might, with songs and lyres and harps and
tambourines and castanets and cymbals.

[12b] So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of
Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing; [13] and when those
who bore the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed an
ox and a fatling. [14] David danced before the LORD with all his
might; David was girded with a linen ephod. [15] So David and all the
house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and
with the sound of the trumpet.

[16] As the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal
daughter of Saul looked out of the window, and saw King David leaping
and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.

[17] They brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in its place,
inside the tent that David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt
offerings and offerings of well-being before the LORD. [18] When
David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the offerings
of well-being, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts,
[19] and distributed food among all the people, the whole multitude of
Israel, both men and women, to each a cake of bread, a portion of
meat, and a cake of raisins. Then all the people went back to their

Psalm 24:1-10

[1] The earth is the LORD's and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
[2] for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.

[3] Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
[4] Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
and do not swear deceitfully.
[5] They will receive blessing from the LORD,
and vindication from the God of their salvation.
[6] Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
Selah

[7] Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of glory may come in.
[8] Who is the King of glory?
The LORD, strong and mighty,
the LORD, mighty in battle.
[9] Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of glory may come in.
[10] Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts,
he is the King of glory.

Ephesians 1:3-14

[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has
blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly
places, [4] just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of
the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. [5] He
destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ,
according to the good pleasure of his will, [6] to the praise of his
glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. [7] In
him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our
trespasses, according to the riches of his grace [8] that he lavished
on us. With all wisdom and insight [9] he has made known to us the
mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth
in Christ, [10] as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all
things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. [11] In Christ
we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according
to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his
counsel and will, [12] so that we, who were the first to set our hope
on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. [13] In him you
also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the
promised Holy Spirit; [14] this is the pledge of our inheritance
toward redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.

Mark 6:14-29

Evening Psalm:
[14] King Herod heard of it, for Jesus' name had become
known. Some were saying, "John the baptizer has been raised
from the dead; and for this reason these powers are at work
in him." [15] But others said, "It is Elijah." And others
said, "It is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old."
[16] But when Herod heard of it, he said, "‘John, whom I
beheaded, has been raised."

[17] For Herod himself had sent men who arrested John,
bound him, and put him in prison on account of Herodias,
his brother Philip's wife, because Herod had married her.
[18] For John had been telling Herod, "It is not lawful
for you to have your brother's wife." [19] And Herodias had
a grudge against him, and wanted to kill him. But she could
not, [20] for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a
righteous and holy man, and he protected him. When he heard
him, he was greatly perplexed; and yet he liked to listen
to him. [21] But an opportunity came when Herod on his
birthday gave a banquet for his courtiers and officers and
for the leaders of Galilee. [22] When his daughter Herodias
came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests; and
the king said to the girl, "Ask me for whatever you wish,
and I will give it." [23] And he solemnly swore to her,
"Whatever you ask me, I will give you, even half of my
kingdom." [24] She went out and said to her mother, "What
should I ask for?" She replied, "The head of John the
baptizer." [25] Immediately she rushed back to the king and
requested, "I want you to give me at once the head of John
the Baptist on a platter." [26] The king was deeply grieved;
yet out of regard for his oaths and for the guests, he did
not want to refuse her. [27] Immediately the king sent a
soldier of the guard with orders to bring John's head. He
went and beheaded him in the prison, [28] brought his head
on a platter, and gave it to the girl. Then the girl gave
it to her mother. [29] When his disciples heard about it,
they came and took his body, and laid it in a tomb.
