That's...Middle English, right? So, it's after the French influence (and therefore Latin) to the language, but the structure is still largely Germanic in nature.
With the "blending" of the two together, over time, it's not difficult to see how it moves into what we think of as common, modern English now.
Of course, thanks to AIM and the proliferation of cell phones, soon the entire language wll luk lyk this, lol lol lol.

I believe those who do not worry about proper grammar call themselves "poets."
